Chapter 10Verse 8
Vibhuti Yoga
अहं सर्वस्य प्रभवो मत्तः सर्वं प्रवर्तते। इति मत्वा भजन्ते मां बुधा भावसमन्विताः॥
ahaṁ sarvasya prabhavo mattaḥ sarvaṁ pravartate, iti matvā bhajante māṁ budhā bhāva-samanvitāḥ
Translation
I am the source of everything, and everything comes from me. The wise, understanding this, worship me with all their heart.
The moment
Chapter ten is where Krishna describes his divine glories. This verse opens a group of four that some teachers call the essence of the whole Gita.
What it means
Krishna says he's the origin of everything, and all of creation unfolds from him. The wise understand this and respond with heartfelt devotion.
Going deeper
The verse moves from knowing to loving. 'Iti matvā', having understood this, leads straight to 'bhajante', they worship.
The Gita doesn't treat knowledge and devotion as rival paths here. Real understanding of where everything comes from naturally becomes love for that source.
In your life
Next time you enjoy something, a meal or a view or a friend's kindness, take a moment to ask where it came from, and where that came from. Following the chain back a few steps tends to turn enjoyment into gratitude.
Everything comes from one source. Seeing that turns knowledge into love.
